Review: South Park “Sermon on the ‘Mount
Overview
When the residents of South Park face their possible demise, Jesus returns to give them an important message.
Our Take
Boy is it a breath of fresh air watching South Park on a streaming service uncensored the day after it airs on Comedy Central. It’s like that time when I was a kid and I went to the zoo with my family and for whatever reason we happened to go there when EVERY SPECIES was in heat and attempting to procreate. The lions, the tigers, the monkeys, they were all going nuts…just as nature intended. And just as much as nature intended, nature intended South Park to be uncensored and with brand-new episodes for the first-time in over a year with nine more of these bad boys on the way…that is depending on how our current Presidential Administration feels after he watches the season 27 premiere.
We’re in the midst of the ultimate battle, the Jesus-influenced left taking on the devil ran Trump worshippers, but really Jesus is doing what he can to make sure South Park isn’t TOO loud because he doesn’t want the town to get sued (60 minutes) or canceled(Colbert) which is the basis of his aforementioned important message. Cartman is leaning towards giving up entirely, Stan is rightfully thinking that church and state should stay separate no matter what those new terrible Jesus commercials say, and who the hell knows what Kenny thinks. Kyle? A bit quiet tonight.
We also get the reveal of the new Donald Trump, instead of Mr. Garrison who has been home this whole time watching White Lotus, we get the Matt Stone-voiced effort reminiscent of South Park’s take on Saddam Hussein, complete with Saddam’s now ex-husband Satan sleeping in the hind quarters of the White House master bedroom. Which makes sense, because if you’re a party willing to sleep with Satan you might as well give him the goods. Likewise, Jesus’ increasing influence on gen-z has a new priest in the form of PC Principal who I guess became a born-again Christian and is slowly starting to assert the voice of Jesus Christ in public schools.
Overall, South Park shows once again who the king of parody and satire is and this time Team Voodoo is putting extra juice in the tank in the form of AI-produced PSA’s that has come as a result of the Paramount/Trump settlement that happened the other day. South Park might be begging for a similar result now, but everybody who has tried to battle the brilliance of Matt Stone and Trey Parker, has failed. Watch out social media bots born and bred in foreign countries allowed to freely roam platforms with no checks in place while people in this country think your insight is real, you may have met your match.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
