English Dub Review: Flower and Asura “Hana and Mizuki”

Overview:

Hana’s love of storytelling draws the attention of the Broadcasting Club’s president, Mizuki, who tries to recruit her. However, Hana has reasons to decline her offer.

Our Take:

I’m not 100% sure but I have a feeling that this is a yuri show. This has all the tell-tale signs of that type of story. A slightly pushy upper classmen and a new student who doesn’t have the confidence to speak her mind yet. Mizuki is the upper classmen and I like how bold she is but it does make me wonder about anime parents. Hana has to take a ferry to get to school so Mizuki follows her home but unfortunately the last ferry is at four in the afternoon which means she was stuck there. Did she tell her parents? Did they care? Stuff like that is always happening in anime and it’s a little funny.

Mizuki is the leader of the broadcasting club and she wants Hana to join. But because of the ferry schedule she can’t. Mizuki talks to the ferry captain and he offers to do a later trip just for Hana. I like the characters so far but it’s hard to tell what this is about. Hana seems to love poetry but she joins the broadcasting club. Is it because it gives her an opportunity to read poetry? I suppose we’ll find out.
