English Dub Review: Black Butler -Emerald Witch Arc- “His Butler, Submerged”

Overview:

The household returns to England, where their final task is to present Sullivan to the Queen.

Our Take:

I understand that Sebastian only had a week to prepare Sullivan to meet the Queen, but he could have been a little nicer. Hitting her with a riding crop wasn’t exactly the best way to handle the situation, in my eyes. Ciel wasn’t willing to help her when she asked, leading to a typical anime trope. When she fell down, he tried to catch her and ended up on top of her, and guess who came through the door at that exact moment? If you guessed, his fiancee Lizzie then you would be correct! I didn’t know she was hiding so much ferocity but when she feared that Ciel was two timing she aimed a roundhouse kick right at his face.

The ending to this season was a little meh but with the popularity of Black Butler I would be surprised if there wasn’t another season announced sometime soon. I haven’t watched the previous seasons that I wasn’t the reviewer for and looking into it is confusing. Apparently, most of the first and second season weren’t canon so I have a feeling there wasn’t much manga to follow. Now there is and this show has a popular following.
