Review: The Great North “Reservoir Dad Adventure”
Overview
Beef discovers the thrill of stunt fishing.
Our Take
This week’s episode of The Great North written by Drew Hanks is another stab at trying to get Beef a vacation because the single father of a thousand is a hard-working son of a bitch that definitely deserves some alone time. In this case it’s alone time with a team of stunt fishers that we learn have a big catch already on board that makes everyone on board suspected hardened criminals.
Because of this, a fun premise in Beef potentially getting it own in a three-way turns into an undercover sting operation which is the type of stuff we’ve seen a number of times before elsewhere up to and including Bob’s Burgers who was also part of a criminal sting operation and both episodes share similar beats near the end of the episode.
Also checking in, the rest of the family attempting to take on the part of Beef when he’s not home and the hilarity of everyone cosplaying as their favorite captain whilst doing so is almost worth an entire episode in it of itself. Overall, execution is everything and this week’s episode, while not mind-blowingly original, still packs the goods for an entertaining bout.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
