Review: Grimsburg “Evidence Locker”

Overview

Memories are sparked when Grimsburg PD cleans an evidence locker.

Our Take

It seems like between The Simpsons and Family Guy, most of the FOX animation lineup has some sort of an anthology episode so why not Grimsburg? That said, this one written by Andrés Du Bouchet actually serves a double purpose in that yes, it’s an anthology episode, but it also worked as an origins episode that follows the early days of Martin’s divorce when he would leave the force and subsequently return to team with a newly onboarded Det. Summers.

All three of the flashbacks were well done and as the episode went along each of the bits got funnier and funnier. A terrible Tom Petty impersonator mumbles a number of one-liners inspired by the rocker’s best-known hits and Det. Summers becoming a cyborg has a number of twists installed and is definitely the most macabre of the trio which is totally fine with me. Also, when did the evidence locker have a monster? Was that always there?

In any event, Grimsburg finishes out June 2025 with a solid, if even admittedly, similarly premised episode as the aforementioned FOX originals but with the origins story twist this anthology episode actually serves up a purpose which is more than I can say for whenever Family Guy does their anthology episodes.

Error happened.
