Remembering Jonathan Joss: “King of the Hill” Voice Actor Dies at 59
The entertainment world is mourning the loss of Jonathan Joss, the talented voice actor best known for his role as John Redcorn in the animated hit series “King of the Hill.” Sadly, news broke on June 2, 2025, that Joss passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the age of 59 following a shooting incident near his home in San Antonio, Texas.
According to reports from the Associated Press and other news outlets, San Antonio police responded to a call about a shooting in progress at around 7 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival at the scene in south San Antonio, officers discovered Joss lying near the street with gunshot wounds. Despite attempts by the officers and later by paramedics to save his life, Joss was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial reports suggest the shooting followed a heated dispute with a neighbor, identified as 56-year-old Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez. Witnesses reportedly told police that an argument escalated, leading to Alvarez allegedly shooting Joss multiple times. Alvarez was apprehended by law enforcement a short distance from Joss’s residence and has been booked on a charge of murder. The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
Tristan Kern de Gonzales, who married Joss on Valentine’s Day of this year, confirmed the actor’s death to the Associated Press. In a statement to Yahoo News, Kern de Gonzales suggested that the shooting may have been a hate crime, alleging that they had been harassed by their neighbors due to their relationship.
Jonathan Joss was a Native American actor renowned for his portrayal of indigenous characters in both television and film. His distinctive voice and compelling presence on screen made him a respected figure in the industry.
