English Dub Review: The Unaware Atelier Meister “A Common Story About How the Former Head of Chores for a Party of Heroes Was Actually SSS-Rank in All Except Combat Skills”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
The Margrave tries to summon a demon to save his daughter. After he fails, the mastermind summons it anyway.
Our Take:
The Atelier crew’s rescue mission could be seen as a success, with Kurt saving Hildegard from Margrave Taicone. However, that doesn’t mean all is well for this childhood reunion. In a sudden change of course, Hildegard is now tasked by the cursed Famil to kill her father. This would’ve been a shocking twist if the show had actually been good enough to capture my interest all the way through. But I guess that’s what happens when you watch several anime with OP characters back-to-back. You start to notice familiar patterns that haven’t done much to differentiate from one another, with a few exceptions.
Unfortunately, the show’s finale didn’t pull off all the stops to conclude its very common plot, even with the reveal of the mastermind pulling the strings on everything. The true mastermind of the season is the demon lord’s servant, Scripter, who’s responsible for cursing Famil and even placing a hit on Lise. However, his appearance is short-lived, as the group battles the returning demon lord in a rematch that has Kurt and his high-level skills saving the day again, much to his unawareness. Even with the title of “honorary knight”, Kurt’s self-esteem still wouldn’t budge an inch, for better or worse. For me, it’s probably the latter.
Based on the ending, the atelier would continue to work extra hard to keep Kurt unaware of his real position in the next season. That is if it does get the green light. Regarding my experience with the show’s underwhelming and frustrating conclusion, I’m hoping it won’t be the case, but I also won’t be surprised if it does get a second season. I’m also not fond of Taicone being hired to work for the atelier after the actions he took for his daughter, even if he was working for Scripter. In short, this common story about this clueless OP character, as I stated numerous times, is something I wouldn’t revisit anytime soon.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
