English Dub Review: From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated! “Dad Becomes a Maid”
Overview:
Grace, also known as Kenzaburo, invites Anna to stay at the Auvergne estate over the summer when it becomes clear that she still needs to learn the ins and outs of high society.
Our Take:
I think I see the path this show is going to take, and I’m not too excited about that. To be fair, I can’t think of a way for the story to produce conflict currently without going down that path. Kenzaburo had a dream where Orion led him to Grace, locked in a cage, and the voice sounded like his daughter. The thing that concerns me is that it wasn’t a dream, and once he lets Grace out, she will return to being awful to people. Since Kenzaburo currently IS Grace, I’m worried it’s going to become nothing but cringey moments where characters that we’ve come to enjoy get treated like trash by the person they love the most.
One cute thing is the fact that Anna and Grace keep getting their wires crossed in the most wholesome of ways. Kenzaburo knows that he probably won’t be in this world forever, and even if he is, I don’t think he’s thought through the fact that Grace is engaged to the prince. He keeps thinking in different ways that it will be Anna who marries the prince, so she needs to learn how to behave in high society. Meanwhile, Anna thinks that Grace will ask her to be her lady-in-waiting and should learn how to be a maid, among other things.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
