Review: Buzzard’s Bay “High Tide, Low Rise”

Buzzard’s Bay refers to a bay area town in Cape Cod Massachussets which should come as to noone’s surprise as the series comes from former Mass residents and co-creators Torey Strahl and Elena Ridker. The premise follows four teens who work at a pizza place during the day then take part in sexcapades (not really) in the afternoon all-the-while a seagull tries to offer up nuggets of free advice.

At the end of the day, this is an Adult Swim series, so a full show about teens talking about sex is probably never going to see a full-series light of day anyway because the network doesn’t have the balls to air or stream a series akin to say Big Mouth, but even if they were, everything about this series is really weak thus far. The script from Ridker sounds like it was written by a 12-year-old and likewise the animation production from Strahl needs a LOT of help before it can hit the big time as it looks more like a series that would’ve been found in the Shut Up! Cartoons days of YouTube rather than anything on Adult Swim television. Seriously, there are animated series on Newgrounds TODAY that are produced better than this and those shorts get nowhere near the budget this one gets.

Everything about this soon-to-be two-parter is piss poor attempt at a series that should be picked up by a stray gull and sank into the bottom of the ocean as deep as it possibly can get.
