English Dubbed Adaptation For Feature Length “In Waves” Announced

Get ready to catch a new wave of animation with the announcement that rising stars Charles Melton (May December) and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once) will lend their voices to the lead roles in the upcoming animated feature, In Waves. This captivating film promises a unique blend of romance and poignant storytelling, set against the dynamic surf scene of California.

Based on the acclaimed graphic novel memoir by AJ Dungo, In Waves tells the tender story of first love between Aj, a reserved teenager, and Kristen, a lively surfer. Their connection blossoms through their shared love for the ocean, which becomes a powerful force in their lives as they face both joy and sorrow.

Director Phuong Mai Nguyen, known for her talent honed at France’s top animation schools, will bring Dungo’s evocative artwork to life. The screenplay, penned by Fanny Burdino and Samuel Doux, aims to capture the emotional depth and lyrical beauty of the source material.

Produced by a collaboration of international studios – Silex Films, Charades, and Anonymous Content – In Waves is already generating buzz as tt has been selected to be showcased in the prestigious Work in Progress section of this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
