English Dub Review: The Shiunji Family Children “Perhaps”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Kotono’s suspicions continue to grow. Meanwhile, Seiha has a theory and demands to test it out.
Our Take:
Thanks to Minami accidentally sharing the information through a group chat, the sisters’ secret involving Ouka’s confession has now become much more challenging to hide. With Kotono now knowing what they’re hiding, things will probably get pretty nasty as the show progresses. But before this happens, the first half of the episode treats viewers to another dose of fan service and Arata’s freak-outs towards his “sisters.” This comes courtesy of Seiha, who conducts another romantic experiment with Arata through a simple, “harmless” game of Twister. The result is just as amusing and mildly arousing as we expect from a “fan service” anime. Granted, If I were in Arata’s position, I would probably be nervous playing Twister with a woman, too. Then, Arata gets into another troubling predicament around Ouka when a brother/sister gaming session ends with him accidentally pinning her down, further provoking Kotono to stand up for herself.
This brings us back to Kotono discovering what their sisters are up to, thanks to Minami’s clumsy mistake. Because of this, Kotono has declared all-out war against them, with the prize being Arata’s heart. I won’t be surprised if the sisters call out Minami for her accidental error in later episodes because she really needs to learn to check her texts before hitting “send”. When “Perhaps” focuses on Arata’s “romantic” mishaps with the sisters, it becomes another serviceable round of fan service and goofy chuckles despite its iffy context. I would also credit the animation for specific sequences, particularly for the smooth movements, such as Seiha fixing her hair before playing Twister. When it places its attention on the “who’ll be with the guy” romance, it becomes a “Quintessential Quintuplets” scenario that still hasn’t hit all the right notes in its storytelling and characters besides the “fan service” ones.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
