English Dub Review: I Left My A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths! “Crossing Time”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Clover must battle the monsters of Glad Shi-im and even their own allies to find and destroy the One Gold.

Our Take:
Yuke’s history has repeated itself thanks to Fullbound’s ignorant obsession with completing the dungeon.  They even went as far as to abduct Rune as a way to complete their goal, not knowing the dangers the Glad Shi-im dungeon and the One Gold holds.  I still think Thunder Pike’s actions were ten times worse than what Fullbound has done, but that doesn’t mean the latter doesn’t deserve a greater punishment than death.  As far as this series goes, it certainly showcases how egotistical and moronic some A-Rank parties are, which makes me surprised the world thinks just demoting them for their behaviors is good enough.  With such actions, Fullbound should also be banned from adventuring for life, but I digress.  The members turning into monsters from the dungeon’s curse and getting their asses whooped by the other parties are punishable enough.
This would’ve been another enticing showdown to conclude the show’s “Glad Shi-im” arc if it hadn’t forgotten to check the sound mixing before releasing the episode.  This issue was similar to the one I had in the second episode, with the sound mixing missing the extra bang in the action’s impact.  Even if the show didn’t have many memorable sequences, I was hoping that this flaw would be fixed by the time we reached this specific point of the season.  Sadly, that doesn’t appear to be the case despite the battle between Clover and King Vordan being the episode’s highlight.  Along with that notable issue, “Crossing Time” struggled to conjure an emotional grasp in its dialogue and action to conclude the season’s “high-stakes” arc on a satisfying note.  At least the world is safe to live another day, but from the looks of the later episodes, it seems that Clover’s journey is still far from over.
