English Dub Review: How I Attended an All-Guy’s Mixer “That Time I Went to a Mixer and… (Thought I’d Never Need to Go to Another Mixer Again)”
Overview:
Hagi confides in Kohaku about his recent emotional turmoil. Later, Tokiwa goes sightseeing by himself and runs into Suo.
Our Take:
If you were expecting there to be some romantic progress with ANY of the characters in the final episode, I’m sorry to tell you there wasn’t. Suo and Tokiwa went to make a wish together, and I think we can infer that Suo’s wish has to do with being with Tokiwa. But that’s about the best we’re going to get with this, it seems. Hagi and Kohaku’s conversation didn’t go much better.
Hagi used the “it’s my friend who thinks he’s cheating!” excuse. I always wonder how people buy an excuse like that in shows and movies, but they always do. Once Hagi mentioned the girl cross-dressing, I thought she would figure it out, but nope. To be fair, later on, it seemed like she was having an epiphany, but nothing ever came of it if she did.
This show started interesting for me, but then it just never went anywhere past the cross-dressing aspect. I understand that it’s a unique feature, but I would have liked to have seen some of the romances progress somewhat.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
