English Dub Review: From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated! “Dad Summons a Beast”
Overview:
The day the students’ familiars hatch arrives at long last. Meanwhile, in another world, two women must come to terms with the fate of a beloved husband and father.
Our Take(Spoilers):
The first half of this episode was what we’ve come to expect so far. Grace isn’t exactly acting how her video game counterpart would, but that’s okay. Everyone has an egg that they’ve been holding on to since the beginning of the school year, and today is the day they hatch. Everything is how it is expected until Grace’s turn comes up. When her egg hatches, it looks like two dolls come out. One looks like Grace, and the other looks like Kenzaburo. Then, a mystical pair of hands comes out of a portal and pushes the two dolls together, and the familiar that comes out is a rare dragon.
The episode then focuses on Kenzaburo’s daughter and wife as they find out that he’s in the hospital. He’s currently in a coma, not dead, which made me think he wasn’t actually in the game but dreaming. But then the daughter went home, and her version of the game was playing by itself, essentially. She also noticed that the antagonist, Grace, was acting a lot like her father. She took her theory to her mother, which led to my favorite part.
With everyone in the family being an otaku, it wasn’t a stretch for the mother to believe that her husband is in a video game. Then we got to see the familiar hatching scene, but from the daughter’s point of view. It was her hands we saw earlier as she reached through the TV to help her father. This new wrinkle to the story opens up a lot of options, and I can’t wait to see where it goes.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
