English Dub Review: Black Butler -Emerald Witch Arc- “His Butler, Encouraging”

Overview:

Sullivan finally completes the Ultimate Spell.

Our Take(Spoilers):

The reason I brought up the movie The Village is because that feels like what this arc is going for. I’m going to need some explanations soon because we got some technology here that shouldn’t exist yet. As far as I know Black Butler takes place in the late 1800’s, in Victorian England. Radar and similar things weren’t invented until the 1930’s but when Ciel and Sebastian escorted Sullivan underground that is the type of things they were finding. We also solved the mystery of werewolves, turns out they’re people in fairly complicated suits.

I thought we were also going to get some foreshadowing for World War One or something because with Sullivan’s help a powerful new poison gas was created. Silane gas was the creating but that was made in 1857 so that makes me even more lost as to the order of things.

Mysteries are fun and figuring out how everything comes together is part of the fun. This could be an alternate version of Earth where things are slightly different than how they happened for us. I don’t know how many episodes this cour of Black Butler has but I think we’re getting close to the end.
