English Dub Review: Anne Shirley “I Thought Nothing Could Be As Bad As Red Hair”

Overview

The story club is formed. Then, Anne’s vanity leads to vexation of spirit.

Our Take

This time around, Anne’s creativity shines as she leads her classmates in a storytelling exercise, inspiring a newfound enthusiasm for sharing and crafting tales. What begins as a single assignment quickly grows into a vibrant club, with everyone eagerly exchanging ideas and applauding Anne’s flair for imaginative plots.

Later, Anne faces an unexpected personal dilemma after encountering what I can best describe as a “snake-oil salesman”, resulting in a makeover that’s far from what she’d envisioned. In response to this new blunder, Anne embraces change by making an unthinkable yet bold decision that surprises everyone at school…

Overall, this episode balances heart and humor in a way that feels both personal and universal. It’s a gentle reminder of how creativity can bring people together, how setbacks can spark growth, and how even small changes can signal a fresh start. While certain side characters and moments might have benefited from more depth or screen time, it’s still rewarding to watch Anne learn, grow, and bring others along with her, as it’s not every day a female character can be flawed and relatable in 2025. (Too many “Mary Sues” have ruined everything nowadays.) The question is, what will happen after seeing that post-credits preview?
