The Odd Birds Show Launches On Social Platforms From Asteria

Launching today on most major social platforms is a new adult animated sitcom called The Odd Birds. The AI-produced animated series being distributed by Asteria is available on Tiktok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram and follows a dysfunctional family of birds who also have a talk show.

Arvid Tappert produces the show utilizing a number of animation devices including AI, VR, hand-drawn, 3D, and motion tracking. For my money, the area of need that should probably be given more focus is in two parts 1) art-maybe some work done in mouth and puke animation both of which needs to have more finesse if it wants to hang with the big boys and most importantly 2) script and dialogue, both of which need a lot of work if it’s to have any chance to stand out against the litany of adult animation made available today on social platforms.

The first episode launch sees Mom feeding her kids the old-fashioned way.

AI-produced animation gets a lot of flack in various social channels both from legit and not legit user accounts with those claiming that these are tools that could potentially replace humans in various jobs and such, much of which was the same being said about 3D-produced animation in the mid-90s replacing 2D animation and even in the early 2000’s when animation traditionalists decried the use of Photoshop and any and all tech products to produce animation. Nowadays we still have plenty of 2D animation, tech is largely the way in which people make animation but there are also still pockets of studios who will still use pencils and paper, and we’re still seeing immense amounts of animated content being produced from the world over in a number of different ways, in short…if it’s good it’s good.
