Review: YOLO: Rainbow Trinity “The Wollongong Santa Pub Crawl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RAWR!!!”
Overview
Sarah and Rachel meet up with their friends at the annual Santa Pub Crawl in Wollongong; Rachel sets out to meet Santa so he can grant her one wish before Christmas is over; Lucas turns Sarah small.
Our Take
If this were any other series, I would think it’d be odd having a Christmas episode air on the same day as a 4/20 Easter but because I’m based in the ol’ USA I’m going to chalk this one up to “Australians do things different” so here we are! A Christmas episode in April!
Seeing Cusack’s take on the North Pole is quite the trip featuring talking signs, Santa, and the notion that Santa grants wishes like a genie which I guess is as good of a take on Christmas as anyone else could muster. Moreover, the trip back from the North Pole is fantastic and probably was originally meant to drive home the whole “remembering the crew on Christmas” bit that most other sporting events and TV series like to do which is a pretty sweet gesture.
Lucas running away from Sarah’s Parents almost didn’t even register because the whole bit is like a minute but Sarah spending time at the party again showcased Cusack’s attention to detail for producing fully-formed settings with a lot going on. We really don’t spend a lot of time at the party, though to be fair, most people would agree that holiday parties are spent in small doses anyway.
Next week we get the long-awaited season finale, let’s see how the guys and gals round out the show’s third season into form.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
