Review: Yolo: Rainbow Trinity “The Cozy Backyard Afternoon Musical”
Overview
After the electricity goes out at Sarah’s parents house, the girls go on a journey into the backyard.
Our Take
Aaaaand that’s a wrap on season three of YOLO! And what a wrap it was with a big ass musical send-off complete with giants, snakes, and whatever else was in tow to help celebrate the finale of Michael Cusack’s series. I certainly didn’t notice any cliffhangers and such to indicate a fourth season but we shall see if this show indeed has a future, more on if I think it should in the season review being posted next week.
As for the specific episode, admittedly some of Cusack’s voices talking to each other sounded far too similar and as such made some scenes confusing to follow but really the actual musical elements of the show were top-notch complete with fun choreography, well-written jams, and really no sense about what else was going on but who cares? It’s the finale, we’re allowed to let our hair down and then go off into the sunset.
Prior seasons of YOLO featured quite a few more co-writes and in this season I couldn’t help but notice that Mike wrote the majority of the episodes which is a growing trend in adult animation these days, so I can definitely see why Mike at the end would just come up with a fun idea that would help him blow off some steam before he sets off on his next project. THIS feels like that, but I’m not complaining either way.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
