Review: The Great North “Dial M for Moon-der Adventure”
Overview
When a snow day is unexpectedly rescinded and the kids are forced to go to school, Detective Moon must crack the case of who could commit such a twisted crime.
Our Take
If there’s only one thing for certain in life it’s that whether it’s episodes of Bob’s Burgers or The Great North, by far the most over-used premise that these series like to use is the whodunnits. Oh man, I think we’ve seen every one and every thing become the subject of these premises and really if I can go the rest of my life without seeing any more of these types of episodes, I’ll die a happy man.
Fortunately, I much preferred the B-plot featuring a bunch of the gang getting stuck in the car during the snow storm and would’ve actually have liked to have seen the whole family doing what they can to remain occupied until the snow passes through up to and including having to shovel themselves out.
Bob’s Burgers has done a number of snow day premises which makes a bit more sense because that show is kinda sorta based in New Jersey/Long Island and these are settings not built for copious amounts of snow and are more apropo for snow days. From my limited research on the topic snow days were almost non-existent in Alaskan schools for a number of years but as of late they’ve been a tad more frequent so maybe there is some legitimacy there, but if this week’s Gabe Delahaye-written affair seems familiar during watch through it’s because it really is. Fortunately, the show returns in two weeks with a brand-new episode, maybe some time apart will do us some good.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
