Review: Krapopolis “On Eye One Heart She’s Stupe”

Overview

A legendary hero and his fighting performers arrive in town and Deliria signs Stupe up to perform with them; Ty discovers a new set of relatives

Our Take

It took nearly two seasons but Krapopolis finally delivered us their kind of parody of Gladiator. With Stupe being put into a live contest meant for the entertainment of others rather than for their country’s glory, this week’s episode of Krapopolis was even better than that terrible Gladiator sequel that nobody asked for.

The Malloy Moseley-written episode gave us a double-shot of funny coupled with Alex Rubens’-ran episodes having greater attention to things like gags and shorts that really helps the show be more injected with some of that DNA from The Simpsons that has helped that show remain successful for so many seasons. With Krapopolis well into their second season, this growth could help the show find a firm footing in which to build on for seasons to come.

Personally, I actually preferred Ty meeting his extended family, but really both plots this week were quite entertaining and featured a rather lively guest cast including the likes of the brilliant Michael Imperioli who leads a family that I’m not sure couldn’t today hold down the fort on their own animated comedy for a few seasons.
