English Dub Review: The Unaware Atelier Meister “New Friends in a New Atelier”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Yulishia establishes a new atelier in the frontier town without letting Kurt know he’s its atelier meister.
Our Take:
The plans to make a new atelier are officially underway as Kurt and the group head down to Frontier Town to set up their base. Of course, unbeknownst to Kurt, it’s part of Yulishia’s strategy to lure out a greater evil determined to assassinate the princess. However, the other part, which is the most difficult phase for the adventurers, is to keep Kurt unaware that he’s actually the new atelier’s meister instead of an ordinary handyman. After three episodes, this is where the show’s title comes into play, which would determine whether this concept has enough moments to prevent it from growing stale too quickly. However, based on what the previous episodes offered, I’m still not holding my breath for it to improve.
It’s understandable why Yulicia and the others have to keep Kurt’s crucial role a secret. Not only do they care about his safety against this evil menace, but they’re also touched by his dense yet compassionate demeanor. However, they’re still not being good friends by lying to him and unknowingly taking advantage of his kindness. Even Sina, the member of Sakura, has the common sense to call them out for “manipulating” Kurt into thinking he’s not special when he clearly is. But she’s quick to change her mind after seeing Kurt’s skills and kindness in action, like in the previous episode. Unfortunately, after the massive atelier was built, their task became a lot more difficult when they persuaded Kurt to take the meister’s room and witnessed him removing Yulicia’s barrier for protection.
The episode’s fortunate enough to apply some amusement in the gang’s shocking reactions to Kurt’s enormous atelier design, which is shaped like a mansion. However, regarding the characters’ actions, “New Friends in a New Atelier” still has room to ensure the concept doesn’t become too ridiculous to convince its viewers, especially when they have to lie to him for safety reasons. It’s one thing to try to convince a low self-esteem person of their unique capabilities, but to leave them unaware of their talents? That’s something that’ll cause quite a debate on whether their actions were right or not. Regarding its execution, as I mentioned before, I’m not expecting the concept and characters to get better if this is all it has to offer.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
