OUR TAKE
New anime to cover, and it’s another based on a completed series of novels. To my pleasant surprise, this premise actually kind of interests me, as women getting super strength is pretty appealing to me. FOR STORY REASONS. AND THAT’S ALL. Of course this first episode is just about introducing the world and the premise, as well as some shenanigans of Sophia dealing with her new super strength, and also her sudden urge to run a lot and eat bananas (which incidentally they don’t eat in the wild in real life). Being a sheltered girl who was hoping for a calm and safe life, suddenly having the ability to punch really hard and run through walls is naturally very shocking, especially since she is now being pushed into joining the military as those who are blessed by the gorilla god often are. Interestingly, it seems that the establishment doesn’t really have an issue with her being a girl who may join the military, which already puts them ahead of a lot of real life people! But as for Sophia, it seems this is going to be a story of her learning to accept and hone her new powers, as well as see what opportunities having them opens up, such as meeting new hot boys of course.
I’m interested to see where that story goes, as well as how we see more people who were blessed by other gods and in what ways. We’ve already seen some in action and some hypothetical, but it’s only a matter of time before a few end up in a fight and we get to see what happens. Sophia has it covered on strength, but is there a rabbit god that gives speed or a snake god that lets you…I don’t know, unhinge your jaw? There’s plenty of possibilities, but this is also a twelve episode show with clearly not a very big budget, so perhaps it’s best I keep my expectations low and not get my hopes up. Still, I actually find myself looking forward to what’s coming for the rest of this series, though mainly for the superpowers. I’m sure the character drama will be fine enough too, it’s just not my priority here, but I will for sure comment on it if it becomes necessary to cover the story. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to try and get the blessing from whatever animal god helps you get through the day without anxious thoughts.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
