English Dub Review: My Hero Academia: Vigilantes “Top Runner”

Overview:

What happens when pro heroes and vigilantes target the same villain? Is it possible to work as a team?

Our Take:

One thing I love about this series, and it being a prequel, is that we get to spend some time with characters we didn’t have much time with in the main series. One of those heroes is Tenya’s older brother, Tensei. Stain brutally attacked him in My Hero Academia, and we never got to see him in action, and he’s only had a handful of spoken lines. It was nice to get to see him in action and how he interacted with Koichi.

I thought since Koichi and his vigilante crew are doing something technically illegal, there would be no way Ingenium would be okay with them. Especially because we know his little brother, Tenya, is a huge stickler for the rules. But Tensei seems a lot more easygoing when it comes to things like that, but maybe since he’s become jogging buddies with Koichi, he has a soft spot for him. We saw why Tenya looks up to his big brother so much. He’s a nice guy and truly embodies what it means to be a hero.
