English Dub Review: How I Attended an All-Guy’s Mixer “That Time I Went to Campus and…”

Overview:

Tokiwa takes a walk with a non-cross-dressing Suo. Meanwhile, Asagi is alone with Fuji at the Bar Rose.

Our Take:

I get that some people can look like an entirely different person if they cross-dress well enough. Maybe they look the same to us because making it hard for the audience wouldn’t be good. But other than having longer hair or pushing their boobs down they don’t look THAT different. But yet Tokiwa’s classmates think that Suo is someone else when she is wearing her guy makeup. So much so that his classmates thought he was cheating on “the prince” with Suo. To clear up the confusion, Suo decides to tell them that her girl persona is “the prince’s” sister.

Anime and misunderstandings go hand in hand, but sometimes they can be annoying. Hagi’s sister thinks Kohaku is a guy and that her brother is in love with him. While I love how progressive she is, I find it frustrating that he won’t tell his sister that she works at a crossdressing host bar. I am hopeful this is going to change eventually, but we’re getting pretty deep into this show, and we haven’t seen Kohaku out of her cross-dressing makeup once.
