English Dub Review: From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated! “Dad Becomes a Villainess”

Overview:

Kenzaburo Tondabayashi is a staunch, 52-year-old bureaucrat until he seemingly dies in a traffic accident! He then finds himself reincarnated into the world of the Otome game.

Our Take:

This isn’t my first otome game reincarnation anime by any means. But it might be the first one where the person being reincarnated is a fifty-year-old man. You might be thinking that he would get reincarnated as one of the many male suitors in the game. But you’d be wrong! He gets reincarnated as the villainess, in case the title didn’t give it away. I don’t think this is the first isekai to be like that, but it is the first one I’ve watched, and so far, I think I’m in for a good time.

Kenzaburo gets reincarnated as the villainess Grace, and of course, he runs into the heroine immediately. He never played the game, but he understands that a villainess is usually mean, but he can’t help but be nice to the servants and the heroine as well. What I think will make this show interesting is that he realizes he needs to be a little mean and will try to do that, but is somehow still nice when he scolds someone. I hope it can keep this up because it’s fascinating me so far.
