English Dub Review: Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc “His Butler, Doing Fieldwork”

Overview:

Sebastian and Ciel begin investigating a series of suspicious deaths in Germany at the Queen’s request.

Our Take:

I vaguely remember there being a post-credits scene at the end of the last season involving werewolves. Turns out that there might not be only werewolves but witches and curses too. Ciel isn’t having any of that though and can’t believe that people think something like that could actually happen. I found this funny because he does know that he has a demon as a butler right? If anyone were to believe in something like that I would think it would be someone who has witnessed a multitude of supernatural things.

I’m going to guess that this season is going to take place entirely in Germany. This could be pretty bad, there have been a few bad English accents in this show already and I can only imagine there are going to be a few bad German accents as well. One thing that was interesting was seeing German get spoken for a large portion of the episode. I wonder if it was similar in the sub, I imagine it was because the subtitle for the German were in Japanese as well as English. At the very least I’m interested in where this will go.
