Review: Blacktalon Season Two
With Blacktalon season 2, the makers take us deeper into the mega endeavor of Neave
Blacktalon and her group of hunters who are on an important mission. The city, Hammerhal
Aqsha, is under a heavy threat as a saboteur is prepared to go to any length to put his nefarious
plans into action. Neave Blacktalon and her group must dig out the truth and stop the shadowy
criminal in time or they risk losing it all.
One of the best things about the series is that it doesn’t progress like a typical twisty action
thriller. In fact, there is much more to it in the form of Blakctalon’s far-from-ordinary past, her
memories of that – and themes of trust, determination, camaraderie, and betrayal. In addition to
that, the character development that you witness is phenomenal with the focus on the evolution
of Neave Blacktalon mentally.
If we talk about animation, you will get the signature Warhammer experience. The animation
quality is magnificent – and the attention to detail is truly commendable, something to be seen in
the series’ depiction of the city of Hammerhal Aasha. The intensity of action scenes can be felt at
its best. That’s also due to exceptional background sounds that make the show an entirely
immersive experience.
One department where Blacktalon season 2 somewhat underperforms is storytelling. That’s not to
say the story frays at any point – but some parts of it might feel a bit stretched out. Probably
some would enjoy that, but not the ones who can’t wait for the meaty bits.
Everything put together, we won’t say Blacktalon season 2 can be kept among the best from
Warhammer. In some instances, the series’ strengths double up as weaknesses. What makers
thought would give viewers complete picture of the character’s situation seriously impacted the
pacing. Though many wouldn’t like it, some would say this is exactly how a show needs to be
approached. In short, it’s about what you’re on the lookout for. Those who like their show quick
and straight to the point might not enjoy this one. But the ones that look for depth would
appreciate makers’ effort.
You should give this one a shot. There is a lot to like – and some elements that you would like or
dislike based on what you are looking for. Have you watched it? If so, what are your thoughts on
this series? Let us know in the comments below
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
