English Dub Review: Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister “Nadeshiko Hide-and-Seek ~Switch~/~Worry~”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Uryu and Yuna find themselves sporadically switching bodies.
OUR TAKE
Eyyyyy, guess what, it’s that next three parter that I mentioned last time! Only because of this show’s dub’s odd release schedule and pension for delays for some reason, we’re getting TWO of those three parts right away, so we’ll be done with this storyline by next week. As mentioned, this is the Yuna three parter so that she doesn’t get left out, and as the middle child, she is fittingly picked last to have one of these. Where Yae’s story involved going back in time and Asahi’s story involved being in a time loop, Yuna’s forgoes any time involved shenanigans and just decides to rip off a part of the famous anime movie, Your Name. Or at least just the protagonists switching bodies every so often part. Body swapping stories are typically for the purpose of understanding a new perspective; literally putting oneself in another’s shoes and seeing the world through their eyes. As expected, Yuna’s life experiences are pretty different from Uryu’s, down to what equipment they have to work with in the bathroom, but the two actually share a lot of the same locations throughout the day due to them going to the same school (remember that Uryu is inexplicably the only boy at Yuna’s formerly all girl school).
However, it doesn’t seem like an empathy lesson was the goal of the ghost of the Amagami mom, as Uryu is kind of familiar with all three sisters to an absurd degree at this point. No, apparently the point of this was for Uryu to learn that Yuna herself planned to be the heir to the shrine at one point and has mixed feelings about potentially letting that dream go. Oh, and for Uryu to learn about Yae’s feelings for him AND for Yuna to learn about Asahi’s feelings for him so that everyone is caught up AND so they have a convenient excuse for not telling the other two what the heck is going on. We also get a bit more time with Yuna’s one friend Mitsuko, just like Yae has her one friend Makoto and Asahi finally made her one friend in her rival Karen. Meanwhile, Uryu also only has one friend, Shirahi, but she’s a girl so naturally she’s harboring a clear as day crush on him. Anyway, next week we’ll wrap up this three parter so that all three sisters can be officially in love with the protagonist.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
