English Dub Review: Trillion Game “ALL IN”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Trillion Game goes on a trip to Vegas and makes a decision regarding the deal with Dragon Bank.

OUR TAKE

Well, as expected, Haru and Gaku do not decide to sell their company to Dragon Bank. And I mean…yeah, there’s only a handful of episodes left in the season, and while this would be around the time to have an “all is lost” moment, I’m not sure you can really come back from selling the whole damn company for the third act in any realistic way. So yeah, of course they’re not selling, which naturally surprises the CEO who thought he had this in the bag, and obviously this is because Haru and his sheer greediness likely overpower that of the CEO anyway. Anyone who’s been paying attention could see this was where we were headed, but the Vegas scenes were a good way of building up to that. I mean, it’s mainly about Gaku and the rest of the team learning to really commit to the bit and gamble with making it big on their own instead of through Dragon Bank’s control, but it’s ALSO about giving them the pep talk they need to make that decision. Also, it was actually kind of funny how they still ended up losing a bunch of money right after that pep talk.

As for what they plan to do next now that they’ve officially made an enemy of Dragon Bank? Well, it seems their next step is going into partnership with a DIFFERENT company and making a streaming service. Considering they own God Production, a talent agency, and are making games already, this actually feels like a pretty natural extension of that since it’s just another form of media collection and creation. However, if I may pull things more into the real world for a sec, streaming services are not exactly the most profitable thing in the world, especially since the “streaming wars” ended a little while ago. Heck, Apple TV+ just reported to be losing about a billion dollars for its company, mainly because it’s flawed model based on subscriptions, and getting even the best shows out now like Severance is not gonna suddenly make people pay more for that. But hey, this was never the most realistic story anyway, so with only four episodes left, let’s see how Trillion Game gets their second wind and pretends that streaming is actually profitable. Or maybe that will actually crash and burn and everyone will be humbled by the end. If you play the game long enough, the house always wins, as they say.
