English Dub Review: Solo Leveling Arise from the Shadow “We Need a Hero”
Overview
Sparks fly as the S-Rank hunters spar in preparation for the Jeju Island raid…
Our Take
This time around, the story shifts toward the highly anticipated Jeju Island raid, a long-awaited story arc from the original webtoon that builds upon the world-building elements established throughout Seasons 1 and 2, as previous failed attempts to clear the island of its monstrous ant infestation set the stage for an intense showdown. With the creatures becoming increasingly dangerous and even capable of flight, the stakes have never been higher. Despite the presence of powerful S-rank hunters, the absence of Jinwoo due to obvious reasons, raises questions about the mission’s success and foreshadows potential disaster.
The rest of the proceedings also highlight the rivalry between elite hunters through a series of sparring matches, offering a glimpse of the strengths and strategies between Team Japan & Team Korea. While some battles are cut short, they still contribute to the growing anticipation for what’s to come. Despite Jinwoo’s absence from the raid, his presence is still felt as he strategically places his shadow soldiers with the hunters. The Japanese hunters, despite their initial confidence, find themselves struggling against an enemy far more dangerous than anticipated as the body count rises…
Overall, this episode does an excellent job of setting the stage for an intense and unpredictable arc. While some moments might feel brief, the buildup of tension and danger keeps the stakes high. Yet in terms of action, the sparring scene between the Korean and Japanese S-rank hunters delivered some impressive moments, though it was ultimately a bit underwhelming. The fight between Jinwoo and Goto, in particular, felt like it could’ve had more substance, as it was interrupted before it could reach its peak. But with Jinwoo’s absence looming over the battlefield, the real question now is, how long can he stay away before the situation demands his intervention?
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
