English Dub Review: My Happy Marriage “A Resolute Departure”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
After awakening from her dream, Miyo begins to gather allies for the rescue mission.  Will her blossoming powers be enough to save Kiyoka and stop Usui?

Our Take:
It’s been a long time coming, but Miyo was finally able to awaken her Dream Sight ability.  Not only that, but she has also gained self-confidence regarding her determination to stop Usui’s dastardly plan.  This sets the stage for an enticing confrontation between her and the man he calls himself her “father”.  However, that won’t be until next week, as the penultimate episode focuses on a rescue mission involving Miyo saving her beloved fiancee.  Based on the previous two episodes, I also hoped that Arata would get a severe punishment for betraying his flesh and blood, but I’m sure that time would come sooner or later unless he had something else planned.
Until then, we have a rescue mission that’s unsurprisingly engaging in its plot and character moments but also rewarding in its aftermath.  With Miyo, Kiyo, and Tatsuichi able to rescue Kiyoka, Miyo finally found the courage to express her feelings towards Kiyoka, relieving her of the guilt she held for not doing it sooner.  You know, before the traitorous Arata spoiled that moment.  For fans of the series, including me, this heartwarming conclusion serves as a satisfying end to the latest step in their relationship.  Regarding its animation and Masayuki Kojima’s direction, “A Resolute Departure” did a great job translating that heartwarming moment on the screen.  With the season reaching its end, let’s hope that their love and Miyo’s Dream Sight are strong enough to overcome Usui’s evil ways.
