Rique the Misfortune and Krafnir the Hatch of Truth attempt to find the Demon King’s child.
Our Take:
Like clockwork, this week’s episode introduces us to another slate of Shuras as we’re approaching the end of the show’s second season. But the good news from the episode is that we uncovered another small piece of information about the mysterious Demon King. It turns out that this demonic ruler had a child during their conquest, which deepens the mystery surrounding the world’s former leader. This episode focuses more on this discovery amidst its introduction to a new group of characters, the first being a bard named Olukt the Drifting Compass Needle, who attempted to defeat the Demon King with his song four years ago. Unfortunately, he appeared to be killed offscreen, but at least his music was comforting to listen to. Plus, the smooth animation benefited this sequence, emphasizing the show’s detailed graphic presentation amid its anthology structure, which was enough to compensate for its unnecessary first half.
The episode’s second half is where its central premise comes into play, with Rique and Krafnir traveling to the Final Land to find the Demon King’s child. Instead, they found a town full of cursed people and a peculiar young woman named Tu the Magic. Not much is known about her origin, but she does come equipped with impenetrable defense and incredible speed. The episode also showed that she helped a young girl named Sephite four years ago during the Demon King’s reign, prompting Tu’s desire to go to Aureatia to find her. Perhaps she, too, would become a contestant for the Royal Games based on her abilities. Regarding the action and animation style, the second half of “Tu the Magic” was the episode’s other highlight, along with Olukt’s musical number. Whether it helps compensate for its repetitive structure would be up to the viewer. Personally, despite the merits this season provides, I’m a bit relieved that we’re heading closer to the end.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
