English Dub Review: I Left My A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths! “A Six-Leaf Clover”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Shortly after Nene and Jamie officially join Clover, the party learns about a newly discovered dungeon.
Our Take:
With Thunder Pike out of the picture for good, this would’ve been the end of Yuke’s journey of moving on from his past. However, that’s not the case since the show is structured to be a two-cour season. Additionally, we’re still in the first cour of this tolerable yet middling fantasy harem anime, meaning there seem to be more dangers to come for Team Clover in the upcoming second half. Beforehand, we’re treated with the aftermath of Clover’s high-stakes rescue mission in Achromatic Darkness, in which the team gains two additional members after their one-year suspension.
The first, of course, is Nene, whose assistance in Achromatic Darkness promoted her membership as a means to give Mamar some alone time. As usual, Nene’s voice can still be ear-grating regarding her chirpy personality, but I couldn’t blame her voice actress, Kelly Greenshield, for doing her job. Hopefully, she’ll have something more in store to maintain my tolerance toward this overly perky character now that Nene has officially joined Clover. The second person joining the group, Jamie, comes as a bit of a surprise since she’s formally a member of Thunder Pike. Fortunately, her redemption by exposing Thunder Pike’s actions and being the only person who treats Yuke fairly makes Jamie a welcoming addition to the group. However, regarding her reputation, Jamie still has a long way to go to earn back everybody’s trust, especially since she can’t go on quests yet. Fortunately, the members of Clover, including Yuke, were quick to forgive Jamie, but it may not be enough for her to take the burden off her shoulders.
With Clover not going on quests, “A Six-Leaf Clover” provided some breathing room to expand its characters further without any sense of danger lurking around. The result is a low-stakes yet fairly watchable aftermath that mostly benefited from the characters’ endearing chemistry. In addition to the new members, the episode also showcases some developing details that could play a role in the upcoming seasons, including Rain’s feelings toward Yuke, which may or may not affect the team dynamic. There’s also an unexplored dungeon near Duna that would give Clover the comeback the members needed, which would play a part in the show’s next few episodes. While I’m not entirely impressed with the series’s narrative formula so far, it’s tolerable enough to see if it could improve itself during Clover’s next big adventure.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
