English Dub Review: How I Attended an All-Guy’s Mixer “That Time I Went to the Zoo and…”

Overview:

Suo says the gang should hang out this weekend, so Tokiwa, Asagi, and Hagi go to their rendezvous spot without knowing exactly where they’re going.

Our Take:

I’m still enjoying this show, but I have to admit I’m starting to find it hard to suspend my disbelief when it comes to the girls ALWAYS cross-dressing. The gang decides to go to the zoo together, and for some reason all of the girls are in their guy makeup. Maybe I missed the reason why this time, but even if it’s a decent reason I’m getting tired of it. I know that it’s the thing that makes this show “unique,” but are we ever going to get some time with them looking like they usually do?

One of the main reasons I don’t like them always being in their makeup is now Hagi is questioning if he likes men now because he finds Kohaku so cute. It’s not the first time I’ve seen something like that in an anime but it’s an odd thing to add. He knows Kohaku is a girl and girls with short hair exist, so it doesn’t make sense to me. Plus they still look like girls to me, so I guess what I’m trying to say is I hope we get some non cross-dressing episodes if only for variety.
