Season Review: The Tithes

Many believe it’s a bit hard to make an impact with the mini-series. Quite understandable! After
all, minis are like an elevator pitch – hard to frame, harder to deliver. But, Warhammer The
Tithes impresses massively with just three episodes of 20 minutes each. Presented by M2
Animation, the series is wonderfully written with gleaming elements of war, adventure,
suspense, and emotions. The stories seem embossed, the action feels real, and the interactions
relatable – all owing to superb production quality and cinematic touch which has been the
production’s focus for a long time. And, what truly enhances the overall experience is the real-
time technology that has gone into the production of the series.

The Tithes is a great addition to the Warhammer 40K Universe as it has the ingredients that Warhammer fans are always on the lookout for. The visuals are awesome, the stories have more definition, and the characters are deeper than we expected. If we talk particularly about the stories, all three are told from a human point of view (which you might not have expected) – with war, sacrifice, vengeance, and quest for power at the center of the theme. If you are big on cinematic experience, The Tithes is for you. That said, you’d have to break away from your presumptions and ideas of sci-fi adventure stories based on previous material you have consumed of this nature – because you are going to find some massive differences here.

The only department where the series appeared to be wobbly a bit is dialogues. Considering the depth of the story, the words exchanged between characters felt a bit superfluous in some instances.
Rest, all is good – and exactly what a fan would expect – and sometimes even better than that.
