English Dub Review: The Apothecary Diaries “The Crystal Pavilion, For the Third Time”

Overview:

The woman from the clinic finds out that Maomao knows a thing or two about medicine, and asks for her help.

Our Take:

If you were like me and were concerned that the old lady would snitch on Maomao, your fears were unfounded early on. She wanted Maomao’s help in finding a sick serving girl and treating her illness. It didn’t take long for Maomao to track down where the serving girl was, and she was serving under Shin, who is a lady in waiting for Lihua. We’ve had some run-ins with Lihua before and they weren’t good but now she and Maomao have become kindred spirits of sorts.

Finding and helping the serving girl was only the beginning of this mystery. Turns out that some incense that was supposed to be confiscated was hidden in the shed that the serving girl was kept in. The incense alone isn’t a problem, but if mixed with others could create something that induces miscarriages. It is then we learn that Lihua is also with child, so it seems once again Maomao has stumbled into a bigger mystery than she intended. Now that she has solved this problem for Lihua it’s beginning to look like she’s caught the attention of the Emperor.
