English Dub Review: Dungeon People “Dungeon People”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Clay grows curious about how the monsters eat, so Belle leads her to the hunting grounds. Vast, grassy fields beyond what seems possible to fit inside the dungeon stretch wide.
Our Take:
When I first started Dungeon People, I wasn’t sure I would grow attached to the show’s approach to posing a dungeon as a functional work environment. I was used to the more action-packed dungeon-crawling anime, and I’m concerned that the show’s serene tone wouldn’t pack as much interest as the others. But, after watching the first few episodes, I was surprised to see that that wasn’t the case, as the comedic and adorable chemistry between the protagonists helped carry the show’s simplistic visuals and refreshing plot. So, it was a bummer to see that we have reached the end of its season with no announcement of its continuation, although that could be because the source material has only released five volumes so far.
So, how did the anime adaptation decide to end its first season? With a brief tour of the dungeon’s area that resembles a vast field. Don’t ask how there’s an open field inside a small dungeon; just go with it. Additionally, the episode has Belle and Clay replacing the crystal used to create Clay’s clone body as its power begins to wane, showcasing that the dungeon’s crystals don’t last forever. This isn’t the most thrilling way to cap off a season full of tranquility and innocence. However, it further emphasizes the dungeon’s origin with its imitation of the Dungeon Core, which functions as the heart and brain of the underground chasm. Regardless, “Dungeon People” is still a solid way of concluding Clay’s first few weeks as a dungeon operator through its charm and perky appeal. Whether we’ll get a second season or not is still up in the air, but until we get an actual confirmation, I would consider myself surprisingly impressed with the source material’s anime adaptation.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
