DC Studios Lays Out Future Plans For New And Returning Animated Series

James Gunn and Peter Safran are staying bullish on the superhero entertainment industry even though DC Studios rival Marvel may have a not very profitable Captain America: Brave New World on it’s hands and with that have announced new and returning series for new animation on the way. For starters, producer Dean Lorey recently told The Direct that the already renewed Creature Commandos is being “fast-tracked” in production whilst Harley Quinn finishes out a fifth season, the showrunner notes there are ideas for a sixth season in place that may or may not happen.

The studio would like to get to the point of releasing two animated DC Studios-produced series a year and have five in production at the moment. The two new YA-skewing series include My Adventures with Green Lantern and Starfire. A third kids-friendly series DC Super Powers was also announced.

“The show follows her adventures after she uses ‘an ancient spaceship’ she discovers on her home planet of Tamaran to escape her planet and explore the stars. Along the way, she’ll meet ‘space biker Crush, plant-loving Fern, and the magical Princess Amethyst of Gemworld’, and together, they will ‘uncover the deepest reaches of the DC universe, save Space Dolphins, surf technicolor nebulas, and boldly soar into the unknown.’”
