English Dub Review: Trillion Game “Two Bad Guys”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Haru helps Kedoin get one over on his old talent agency, God Productions, who left him out in the cold when he willingly took the hit for a reckless client and was blacklisted.

OUR TAKE

We’re back to Trillion Game after another holiday break, and this time we’ve got a Haru episode! Well, an episode with more Haru than Gaku in it, though Haru is not the main focus. Still, as I’ve brought up previously, I was actually pretty annoyed with Haru’s confidence early on in the show, thinking it made him a rather flat and overly competent kind of character that we never seem to get the perspective from like we do with Gaku. And while we still don’t get that here (hopefully we eventually do), we see how he talks to Kedoin and helps him through this episode. Overconfidence and lying his butt off when it’s convenient are his strong suits, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t think things through or have some method to his madness. We know that he wants to make a trillion dollars and is willing to do whatever he can to get to that goal, but part of making money is knowing people. Sometimes that means using their tells to trick them, but other times it’s about getting to know them and learning how best to help them, and with this episode, they’ve made a good ally in Kedoin.

As for the meat of this episode, it mainly focuses on Kedoin’s past working for a talent agency, where he hired a client who went on to have some vehicular controversy. Where the first instinct was to simply drop the client with bad press, as is often the case, Kedoin knew he was a promising actor and so shaved his head to look like him and took the blow to his reputation…which then led him to be dropped instead. He’s kept quiet about this for years, but Haru motivates him to raise a fuss about it and threaten to take the story to the papers (though it’s a bluff). However, the actor he saved is still incredibly grateful and, being a great actor who has honed himself over the years, knows the tells and plays along with what might be the beginnings of getting Kedoin’s reputation back. Lastly, the episode ends with Haru and Kedoin blackmailing someone with shares in the talent agency to share because they have evidence of insider trading, and Haru decides to pay for it with all of the money they had for Trillion Game. Where will this go next? Find out next time when we reach the halfway point!
