English Dub Review: Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time “Takumi Party’s First Battle!”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Takumi informs Maria and Sofia that he’d like to travel, so he registers them both with the Adventurer’s Guild and forms an official party. After Takumi sends some of the guild’s troublemakers packing, he’s approached by the Guild Master and advised to quickly rank up his party, so the three head out together on a quest to defeat goblins.
Our Take:
With Takumi and the others now earning each other’s trust, mainly Sofia and Takumi, it was only a matter of time before they officially became an adventuring team. This week’s episode shows that that time is now, with Takumi entering himself, Maria, and Sofia into the Adventurer’s Guild as a party. While Maria seems more like a housekeeper than a skilled fighter, her stats were surprisingly decent enough for her to hold her ground against specific enemies. This also doesn’t become an issue for Sofia, who’s now free of her curse thanks to Takumi’s light magic skills. Because of this, we’re able to witness Sofia’s impeccable skills when they’re tasked by the guild’s master, Barack, with destroying the goblin camp.
The episode also showcases more of Takumi’s magic abilities in addition to his alchemist skills. For the former, he used charcoal to create a diamond barrier around him to defend Maria and Sophia from some of the guild’s troublemakers. Takumi also used fire magic to assist his allies in destroying the seemingly unstoppable goblin general. As for his alchemist abilities, those sequences are what you’d expect from an isekai harem anime in terms of its risqué humor. From the girls’ battle clothing to their underwear, these scenes continue to display Takumi’s struggle to resist his temptation to show his perverted side, even if Maria and Sophia wouldn’t mind stripping in front of him. Also, Maple evolved once more into a half-girl, half-spider hybrid, so that’s cool, I guess. Besides that, the episode continues to portray the show’s basic isekai harem formula through some of its risqué comedy but fails to evoke some laughs with any of them.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
