English Dub Review: Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms “In Love with Him”

Overview:

Mona continues attempting to charm Medaka but suddenly realizes she might have competition.

Our Take:

It’s been a long time since I read this manga, but it wasn’t quite in harem territory yet. Now I’m starting to think that’s where it’s headed. I love a good harem anime but sometimes I want a good old-fashioned rom-com where others don’t get involved. However… the “competition” that Mona was worried about happened to be a girl that’s obsessed with her, not Medaka. I’m sure that there will be some girls that come into the picture that are into Medaka as well but this got me thinking.

What if we had a harem anime in which the two obvious characters got together, but instead of having only one side add to their harem, we would get both sides with additions? It stands to reason that other people will like the people who are going after the main character. Sure, we get some one-off characters, but they’re treated more like jokes than anything. I think that would be a refreshing way to add harem elements to a show like this. Plus I can’t recall a harem show ever doing anything like that.
