English Dub Review: Blue Lock “What You Taught Us”

Overview:

Shidou enters the “flow” and unleashes his Big Bang Drive to score another goal. Isagi demands that Ego let them win, and Ego subs Barou in to cause chaos on the field. And the other players start to find their “flow”…

Our Take:

I was a little surprised that it seemed like Ego was willing to let the team lose because in his eyes they had accomplished what they set out to do. Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t Blue Lock’s purpose to create the best striker in the world and beat everyone? Would showing off a little against the U-20 team count as that? I didn’t think so and luckily neither did Isagi because he demanded that they continue to play to win and Ego subbed in Barou. After all, it’s hard to play defense against a player when his team doesn’t know what he’s gonna do half the time.

Barou is a character that’s fun to watch but he’s also fun to hate. He’s a huge asshole and nobody likes him but in sports talent is king and Barou isn’t called “King” for nothing. If the Blue Lock team is going to win this game then I think that Barou is going to be a big part of that happening.
