Review: Krapopolis “SHLUB$”

Overview

Shlub is sick — well, one part of Shlub is sick — so the family uses Hippocampus’ new invention to extract and replace the ailing part, but might just need to operate on themselves in order to save him.

Our Take

If they had just featured this week’s episode of Krapopolis with Deliria being removed from the entire show until the climax, I would’ve been fine with that as I didn’t care for her rendezvous with Kolax one bit and found the time spent away from the main plot a waste.

Fortunately, the meat and potatoes of “SHLUB$” is a lot of fun and really continues to lean into the sci-fi bits that the show seems to be increasingly doing for Krapopolis’ second season. For my money, Alex Rubens is running this show not unlike early Rick and Morty with shorts, sci-fi bits, and better organization for all of the characters of the series.

Raza Syed checks in this season with a well-written episode of Dominic Polcino continues to showcase why he’s one of the Jedi masters of the animation arts. The long-time producer having made stops with the likes of Rick and Morty, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and a slew of other animated series probably had the strongest resume to tackle all of the splitting up of the characters and he does so very well here.

Of all of the spin-off characters featured here, I found myself enjoying Hippo’s characters the best though seeing Tyrannis going all Zordon on the rest of the cast got a few chuckles out of me as well. An overall solid episode of Krapopolis, now let’s break for lunch.
