Review: Bob’s Burgers “They Slug Horses, Don’t They?”
Overview
Tina and Louise get into an argument.
Our Take
Slugging horses has to do with Tina’s horse toys that Louise has no respect for and as a result turns into a big fight where the two sisters end up on opposite ends of a debate with no signs of thaw. Fortunately, Aunt Gayle comes over and reminds the two that they are sisters and that they love each other.
Perhaps no stronger relationship between characters has been more emboldened over the years that the Bob’s Burgers kids. Stranger Things might be close, but the FOX animated series has been doing this for over a decade now. And what better way to do that than with an almost-anthology episode that features different styled shorts and flashbacks that helped illustrate all sides of everyone’s stake in this big battle. Who better to write this episode than longtime Bob’s Burgers writer Nora Smith who has been one of Loren Bouchard’s longest collaborators for decades hearkening back to their Adult Swim days?
Admittedly it kinda looked like the wheels were wobbling a bit before we got to the climax, but boy the show knows how to stand-up straight and deliver on the goods time and time again. It’s episodes like this that should remind people as to why Loren put Nora in charge of Central Park and why he co-wrote The Bob’s Burgers Movie with her. Special kudos should go out to Bernard Derriman as well for directing an episode that had as many different aesthetics as it did across the various shorts and somehow placed them in this maddening puzzle. A real fantastic treat, and one of the better episodes of the season thus far.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
