English Dub Review: The Prince of Tennis II U-17 World Cup “Focus Burst vs. Pinnacle of Perfection”
Overview
Kirihara is determined to beat Siegfried’s Pinnacle of Perfection with his Focus Burst. The two battle it out as their doubles partners watch on.
Our Take
The series has been struggling to maintain its momentum, especially in how it approaches competition and character dynamics. And despite the weird spectacle stuff it’s going for, recent episodes have introduced scenarios that bend the established rules, creating situations that feel disconnected from whatever grounded sports focus it previously had.
The tendency to rely on high-stakes melodrama for every major event has started to feel repetitive, making these moments less impactful. The pacing is often interrupted by flashbacks or unrelated character focus, which, while occasionally interesting, don’t always contribute on a narrative level to the story’s progression.
Overall, while the series still offers moments of excitement, the increasing emphasis on spectacle over substance is beginning to overshadow its strengths. While dramatic moments are still present, they often come at the expense of the logical and strategic depth that made earlier matches compelling. The show seems to be at a crossroads with how it resolves these issues. And with three episodes left, I’m curious to see how far this goes…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
