English Dub Review: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? “(Orario) Distorted City”

Overview:

Bell claims he’s part of the Hestia Familia. But that can’t be right, he’s always been part of the Freya Familia. His own Familia and goddess wouldn’t lie to him, right?

Our Take:

In this season Bell isn’t facing down monsters or enemies that can hurt you physically. Instead, he’s facing down being gaslit and emotionally abused to the point that he might end up breaking. First of all, the Freya familia takes their training way more seriously than any other house we’ve gotten to see. Their members fight to the death every day, and afterward, their healer comes in and revives all that died. That would be awful to be sure, but have you seen Freya? If she was after me the way she’s after Bell I might say screw it and go along with it. Nothing has happened with Ais in forever anyway, right?

Speaking of Ais, she and Hestia had an interesting interaction. Hestia found her standing on the battlements where she and Bell had trained together in the past. She looked confused but felt like she was there looking for something or someone, so maybe Bell has a bigger place in her heart than we know. Hestia asked her to avoid Bell at all costs and I was confused as to why, she thinks that if Ais were to reject Bell now it would crush him and he would fully succumb to Freya. Now I’m hoping that Ais is the one to break him out of the spell once he falls into it because let’s be honest he’s going to lose it before this is all over.
