English Dub Review: After School Hanako-Kun Episode 5

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Nene has a bad dream.

So, let’s see what I can glean from these ten minutes. Apparently a character named Nene has had a bad dream, to which the titular Hanako decides to interpret that as her being perverted since apparently “only perverted people have bad dreams during the summer”. I think I’ll decide to not question his seamless logic there. This obviously gets protest from Nene, and eventually they end up asking a ton of other characters whose names I don’t know about what they tend to dream about. I have no idea what this accomplishes but that is indeed how that segment went, so at least I can say I described it accurately. The second segment involves a couple other characters who, just like the rest of the cast here, I also don’t know one goddamn thing about, but I think we’re meant to takeaway that the guy is often annoying the girl, but then he steps in to defend her from being hit on by a convenience store attendant, so the two of them get to bond a bit as they eat candy in the park at night. And the whole room clapped. Also they’re still using the same ending song which just makes things feel cheap. Anyway, three more of these to go.
