Review: American Dad “Brown Lotus”
Overview
Hayley and Jeff take a staycation at a nearby luxury resort, while the CIA is forced to rebrand.
Our Take
Even after my recent experience of reviewing The Simpsons doing a White Lotus send-up entitled “Yellow Lotus” I still haven’t cared enough to start watching the HBO series of the same name and that probably still won’t change with this episode of American Dad so if there are any references here that I’m missing then understand the reason why I’m missing these references is because I’d prefer to watch shows like American Dad and The Simpsons.
As luck would have it “Brown Lotus” probably refers to Roger’s brown-eye which gets a lot of focus this week that turns into a bit of a typical competition between Hayley and Roger about being mean or nice to get quality customer service at a resort only to find out that Jeff has to get involved regardless. Meanwhile, the CIA has to rebrand into a cake specialists available on call nationwide and while this may sound like a lame B-plot, I actually thought the jokes were funnier here than even in the main plot which only started getting funnier when Hayley and Roger have to set off a marble storm to try and fight back against crazy rich people. When the cake shit hits the fan during a live reality show bit, injuries are had and shit goes down that had me rollin’.
There wasn’t anything mind-blowing this week and that’s just fine with me, a solid American Dad episode that will definitely keep you entertained.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
