English Dub Review: Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister “The Amagami Shrine Festival ~Blossoming~”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Uryu and the Amagami’s do their damndest to make sure the Shrine Festival gets five thousand visitors, but that may be harder than they thought.

OUR TAKE

We reach the conclusion to this two parter that brings all the preparation everyone put in to the test…after test…after test. It’s truly a gauntlet of endurance as one thing after another occurs to try and break their spirits but only ends up making them push ahead stronger. First, they find out Miemon has actually created a fake social media account to tell people that the festival was canceled, forcing them to scramble and ask Dr. Mahiru and the orphanage for help spreading the word all over again. Next, a massive rain storm sweeps in and makes it dangerous for people to leave their houses, but they manage to find out it’s actually made a nearby lake look like an amazing tourist spot. And lastly, they find that even with all of their improvisations, they’re one visitor short before the festival ends. Miemon pays them a visit and decides to count himself as the five thousandth, though it’s clear his kindness is doused with plans to use the girls for his own ends down the road. Still, the situation is resolved and all the hard work they put into things paid off in the end, showing that Uryu and the Amagamis make a pretty good team at the end of the day!

As a first milestone for the bonds that are forming between the group, I’d say it displays pretty well how they all can help each other out. Not just with Uryu formally no longer being an outsider to the sisters, but also showing how Asahi, Yuna, and Yae can work together to continue making their mother’s shrine a place to behold and revere. Heck, maybe there’s something to their gods after all if they managed to pull out miracle after miracle to keep people happy and entertained. But it’s clear that matters with Miemon are not over, especially since not only did he say that he would continue to scheme against them but he’s also just too distinctly designed to not show up again. Hard to say how fast it will take for that to happen since the end of the episode hints at the truly kindling beginning to set fire regarding the love triangle (square?) with Yae kissing Uryu on the cheek and the other two sisters being rather surprised. I guess we’ll see where that takes us as we enter into the next stage of the story.
